The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nikola Selaković, sent off a donation today that the Government of the Republic of Serbia, on the initiative of the President of the Republic of Serbia, sent to Romania for the treatment of patients suffering from the corona virus.

 

The help consists of medicines for the treatment of patients with the Covid-19 virus and oxygen necessary for the oxygen support of these patients.

 

"I am pleased to have the opportunity, on behalf of Serbia, and on the initiative of President Aleksandar Vučić, as the state of Serbia, to send help to our brotherly, neighboring Romania, a country with which we have much in common in our past and which I am convinced a lot of things will bind us with in our future", said Minister Selaković, who saw off a donation for Romania in front of the Palace of Serbia.

 

The head of Serbian diplomacy stated that our neighbors, friends, brothers and sisters, Romanians, are now in perhaps the most difficult wave of the fight against Covid-19.

 

"There is humanitarian aid in the trucks, in the first place in medicine and oxygen, which our Romanian neighbors desperately need. We are convinced that this help will save many human lives", said Minister Selaković.

 

He expressed gratitude for the donation of vaccines from Romania to Serbia in July.

 

"We are now returning the favor, not out of the need to return it, but out of the need to point out that we are always there to help each other when it is difficult. Today's Serbia, Serbia that is developing faster, Serbia that is growing, Serbia that is economically one of the fastest growing economies in Europe for the second year in a row, has the opportunity to help not only its own citizens, but also the citizens of our friendly countries, and Romania is certainly one of them", said Minister Selaković.

 

The head of Serbian diplomacy used the opportunity to call on the citizens of Serbia, who have not yet done so, to get vaccinated and protect themselves, their loved ones and their surroundings from this terrible virus that has spread around the world since the beginning of last year and is still raging today.

 

Minister Selaković stated that Serbia had procured enough vaccines and that it had given citizens the opportunity to choose vaccines.

 

"If they don't do that, I'm afraid there will be no end to this plague. See how difficult it is for our Romanian friends and neighbors. Don't let something like that happen to us. Receive the vaccine and protect yourself and your loved ones from this horror, which ruthlessly takes away a large number of human lives", said Minister Selaković.

 

About 6,500 drugs and about 900 liters in oxygen concentrators were delivered to Romania, and the delivery was also attended by the Ambassador of Romania to Serbia, Silvia Davidoiu.

Ambassador Davidoiu thanked the Government of Serbia and President Vučić for the donation, which, as she pointed out, is another proof of friendship and solidarity between the two countries.

 

"I did not expect the situation in Romania to become so bad. We very much appreciate the gesture of Serbia, this is proof that we are here for each other and that is the most important thing", said Ambassador Davidoiu.

 

Minister Selaković wrote on the shipment in Romanian: "Serbia is with brotherly Romania in the most difficult moments", and Ambassador Davidoiu wrote in Serbian – "Thank you".
